Tracie Hervy is a New York City potter. Her education in ceramics began in the studios of Greenwich House Pottery. She later studied at the Rhode Island School of Design where she received an MFA in ceramics. Her work is created on the wheel. Her forms and palette are simple: basic cylinders and bottles in several variations of white. Inspired by the simplicity of pre-historic vessels and the subtle hues of the paintings of Morandi, all superfluities are stripped away. Her work doesn't strive for a machine like perfection ... one exactly like the other. Her goals are more humanistic. Each piece is a new discovery.
