Hans Bølling is a Danish architect and designer. He was born in Brabrand, near Aarhus in 1931 and trained at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Architecture. Hans Bølling is primarily known and loved for his familiar figures like the Duckling, the Optimist and the Pessimist as well as furniture as the well-known Tray Table.
At a first glance, the ARCHITECTMADE Oak & Maple Mermaid Model reminds one of the famous H.C. Andersen fairy tale and is perhaps the one thing most people associate with Denmark. Part woman, part fish, her features demonstrate the Hans Bølling’s Mermaid is much more than a mere character from a fairy tale.
The Mermaid embodies an ethereal, refined feminine aura, and carries within herself an essence of Denmark in her carefully thought out lines and overall rounded simplicity. Having taken the feminine form beyond the expected, Bølling provided the Mermaid with serenity and wholesomeness. Her character is relevant in today’s time as it brings with it a much needed harmony and balance.
