The Nesmuk Bog Oak JANUS Chef Knife – unmistakable by the black blade – is crafted from a high performance steel containing niobium and finished with a high quality diamond-like carbon coating (DLC) improving the functionality of the blade. The chef’s knife with the 180mm long and 4mm thick, one-sided hollow grind blade is the classic all-rounder and as the „basic knife“ indispensable in every kitchen. The polished edge guarantees the finest possible cut: The unique Nesmuk steel makes it possible to have an extremely fine steel mix and high rust resistance at the same time. It also increases the mechanical density, making the blade tougher and stronger. The result is an extreme sharpness as well as better blade lifetime and edge holding ability.
Bog oak is not a separate species of wood: in fact, it is subfossil, up to 5,000 years old oak trunks that have lain in northern German bogs and waters. If such a strain is found and recovered in a bog, it must first be dried in an elaborate drying process lasting several years before it can be processed. The color varies between brownish and bluish blacks.
• Handcrafted in the historic city of blades Solingen, Germany
• 7" blade length
• Ergonomically shaped handle made of solid wood
• Fossilized bog oak - up to 5.000 years old
• Polished edge for razor-sharp cutting edge
