This small silent clock tracks time without the sound of tick or tock. Principles of equilibrium and serenity guide the aesthetics of the timepiece. Keep it on your nightstand—the silent Japanese mechanism will ensure that you sleep tight and wake up on the right side of the bed. Place it by your work station—the clean, minimal design will be a streamlined addition to your desktop. The completely round face actually has a tilted base, which makes the clock appear as if it is floating or balancing in place. This ethos extends to the very material of the clock, as the solid alder wood boasts a straight, even grain.
Keep dry and away from the sun. Wipe clean with a soft cloth if needed. Replace with AA batteries when necessary. Please note that this clock does not have an alarm.
These solid wood clocks are handcrafted by a small team of clock makers working with world-class and award winning designers. Lemnos was founded in Toyoma, Japan in 1947. Named after the Greek island on which Hephaestus, god of metallurgy and making lived, the company first produced brass castings. They began creating clocks in the 1980s, collaborating with several noted designers. Lemnos' minimal designs and steadfast mechanisms have won several coveted awards and are in the permanent collection of the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum.
