Hand-sewn and fabricated in San Francisco, these hemp and organic cotton napkins make an attractive addition to your table setting. Using cloth napkins is also an environmentally sound alternative to one-use disposable paper versions that take up precious natural resources.
The napkins can be used to wrap cheese or sandwiches. Moisten the napkin and cover chopped vegetables to be stored in the fridge, much like you would a kitchen towel.
The maker recommends that the napkins be washed in warm or cold water (not too hot) and line dried to save energy.
Machine wash and tumble dry is also suitable. The napkins are cut to allow for shrinkage.
In our increasingly throwaway material culture, textile designer Molly de Vries’s goal is to protect the earth by creating products “for a non-disposable life” and lessening paper pollution. These hemp and organic cotton napkins are an alternative to using disposable paper towels or paper napkins. Another product that we carry, her linen food covers, can be used replace plastic wrap and tin foil, which often end up clogging our oceans and disturbing precious marine ecosystems.
Molly's storefront, Ambatalia, located in the historic Mill Valley Lumber Mill complex near San Francisco, is named after a Trinidadian song. “Amba” means mother - and for her, we are all caretakers of our planet and each other.
These hemp/cotton blend napkins are an alternative to disposable paper versions. They may also be used to wrap sandwiches and cheese, or, when moistened, to cover chopped vegetables and fruit to store in the fridge. Comes in a set a four. Handmade in San Francisco.
