Los Angeles-based, globally-minded Industry of All Nations partnered directly with a Bolivian cooperative headquartered in a rural area outside of the capital, La Paz, to create these cozy socks. The cooperative works with cottage industry alpaca farmers to shear, sort and clean the fleece. Local residents then machine-weave the wool to create the socks. Alpacas, native to South America, are prized for fleece similar to sheep’s wool, though softer and warmer. Because alpacas do not secrete lanolins (oils from the skin glands of sheep), the fleece is naturally hypoallergenic.
Wash gently by hand with a mild detergent, then lay flat to dry. Do not tumble dry.
Three brothers from Argentina founded this Los Angeles-based company, in order to rethink how global consumer products should be made. Appropriately called Industry of All Nations, they travel the globe and conduct extensive research to connect and partner with family businesses and traditional manufacturers.
