From the Tajika family’s hands to yours, these scissors have the appealing form of natural copper and the function you would expect from a manufacturer that has been creating scissors since 1928. Each pair is forged, hammered and sharpened by hand. The copper blades are tempered to a high heat, making them malleable. Wooden mallets are then used to carefully pound the blades into the desired shape. Finally, the Tajikas sharpen the blades to precision using a sharpening wheel.
To keep the scissors cutting smoothly, apply sewing machine oil or a drop of vegetable oil to the joint of the blades. Over time and with regular use, the copper scissors will change in color and surface texture. This is not damage, but simply the copper molecules settling in and getting comfortable. This naturally occurring patina will develop over time to create a one-of-a-kind finish. If you prefer to restore the original copper sheen, you can polish the scissors with a soft cloth and cleaning solution. Read more about how to do this here.
