Designed for professional and home kitchens, our knife folds compactly to slip away in a drawer or bring with you on camping trips and picnics. The blade is made with AUS-8, a stainless steel manufactured in Japan that’s known for its hardness and ability to retain a sharp edge, thanks to its carbon content. The blade slips in and out of the handle hewn from olive wood, which is prized in Italy for its unique and variegated graining pattern.
Pull out the blade and a liner lock (a metal disk in the front of the handle) wedges it into place, ensuring that your knife stays open when you need it to. Fold blade into handle by pressing down on liner lock and sliding back into the handle when not in use.
Check the liner lock regularly to ensure that it’s working properly. Keep all sand and grit out of the knife, and ensure that the mechanisms are clean.
Clean by applying an industrial lubricant or oil and scrubbing crevices with a toothbrush.
Do not use the cutting blade as a can opener, chisel, pry bar, screwdriver or for any heavy work for which your knife was not designed. Also, don't use the back of your knife as a hammer. It may break the springs, handles or pin.
The wood handle can occasionally be rubbed with oil to condition.
Remember to keep your knife sharpened: a dull blade can be more dangerous than a properly maintained one.
The family business that designed and created this folding knife launched in 1960. Its patriarch, Fervido Maserin, began working in a factory at the age of 14, producing knives, scissors and other agriculture tools during the 1930s. Taking his many years of experience, Maserin began developing his own line of products, which has now expanded to include knives for military, outdoor, hunting and personal use.
Manufactured in Maniago, Italy, this olive wood kitchen folding knife comes from a history of steel blade production reaching back to the medieval 1500s. Due to its proximity to Venice, the old blacksmiths of Maniago were permitted to use the streams to cool and cut their steel during tool production.
