why this product

This pitcher may look delicate, but under its white porcelain-enamel skin is a body of tough Austrian steel. Enamelware combines the best qualities of steel and glass. The porcelain surface is heat resistant, easy to clean and elegant, yet the steel core means a lifetime of use.

The body, including the spout and rim is made from one piece of stamped steel, so there is no possibility of leaky seams. The welded-on handle is attached with such craft that it appears seamless.

The pitcher is made in Austria by a company with roots going back to 1550, but they’ve been specializing in porcelain enamel for the past 80 years. They also strive to produce their enamelware with a minimum of energy waste, having their own hydroelectric power stations, reusing generated heat three times over, and working toward fuel oil independence.

use & care

Built for heating liquids, but doubles as a watering pitcher for indoor plants or giving Fido a bath.

The porcelain enamel can withstand heat, weight, moisture or any other element most kitchen tools come across. It's totally safe in the dishwasher, but just as easy to wash by hand.

production & design

Only natural, abundantly available raw materials are used for enameling the ladles (namely: glass, a potassium compound and metal oxide).

To carry out the high-heat enameling, the Austrian company uses 100% renewable power. The pitchers are made at 1500°C too, so that's quite a commitment. The company built three of their own hydroelectric power stations that allow them to use only green electricity. This saves 4,600 tons of carbon dioxide and 3.6 tons of sulfur oxide and sulfur dioxide from ever being made and released into our air. The construction of their drying and burning facilities allows them to use and reuse the heat they generate for three different purposes.

Although you'll never want to throw one away, it's also nice to know that they're 100% recyclable.
