You asked; we answered.

As a young and fast growing company, change is part of the everyday here at KM, while at the same time we work to establish things that last.

For us, change in the last month meant switching our website from Shopify to Spree. Our new shopping cart system allows us to integrate many more interesting features to our site. You can see this today with the redesign of our landing page and also during checkout. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be rolling out even more new features for both our U.S. and fast growing group of international customers.

Welcome back! KM’s new landing page.

We also recently switched our inventory management system from Shipedge to Orderbot. Here is where modern technology meets the physical reality of products having to get to you on time. I apologize for any delays or problems you might have experienced over the last few months when navigating our site, or waiting for a product to arrive.

Our longtime customers and readers might have noticed we’re getting more involved in what can best be described as marketing. When you surf the web, you can see our advertising. We now do collaborations and giveaways with like-minded companies. We’ve created an “Our vs. Theirs” comparison series and we added “Why Kaufmann Mercantile” to our website to better explain our mission.

Our series of side-by-side comparisons of everyday products, from combs to staplers.

The goals of marketing are well known, but we also want to utilize our campaigns to make a clear statement about what we do. And when we make bold statements, our actions must follow. Otherwise we aren’t credible.

The product that launched it all: our Estwing Leather Handle Claw Hammer.

Even with these changes, our mission is – and will continue to be – the same. We work hard to find and develop the best products with the best makers out there. We want to create products that last, and that you’ll love forever.

A simple concept. But maybe also a radical change from the norm.

We hope you will be part of the adventure. What companies do you like and are walking their talk? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

We would rather invest a bit more in something that will last, and that is why I turn to KM for those types of purchases. I also have been able to pare down my kitchen using a couple of KM products–the enamelware pitchers work splendidly for all kinds of hot drinks made from scratch–chai, cocoa, Thai iced tea, coffee–and are so handy for specialty simple syrups (I have both sizes). And the Weck 3/4 cup tall (I have other sizes too and like them all) stack nicely (even the lids), handling drinks and food storage. When end I wanted to buy my husband a bag, I didn't have to spend hours researching–I just went to your site! Same when we decided to add a stovetop espresso maker to our lives. Thank you for that! You make life easier and more enjoyable.

Yes, Patagonia is also on top of my list.
