The Swiss company Caran d’Ache sells writing utensils with a price tag you could just as easily find on a car. They’s made pens out of gold, diamonds, pearls and other precious gems and materials. I’d be too worried to run around with a pen like this in my pocket; I’d even be too worried to keep it in my desk drawer. Caran d’Ache also makes this straightforward but fine ballpoint pen out of steel. It has a replaceable ink cartridge, and I bought one on my last trip to Europe for less then fifteen Euros.
The logo is hidden underneath the metal clip. How subtle.
This retractable pen is good for every day use, and won’t case frustration that the malfunctions plastic alternatives often do. I often wonder how many poorly made pens end up in the trash, long before the ink runs out.
If you like to color coordinating your notes, they also offer it in red, blue and a whole array of other colors. The color of the pen’s exterior indicates which color ink is inside.
